Trip to Murrieta 2015 Day Three

We arrived in Las Cruces, NM yesterday early afternoon, staying at Sunny Acres RV Park. We stayed here back in 2011 during our last trip. It’s a very nice place to park, very clean and easy to get in and out. There is a 5 mph speed limit posted throughout the park. I wish more parks did that. There is no need to be in a hurry!

We set up camp and then headed over to High Desert Brewing Company for lunch. We were told they had home-made Root Beer, so we had to try some. That was some of the best Root Beer I’ve ever tasted! The food was also fantastic with great wait staff to take care of us.

Later that evening we had dinner at La Posta de Mesilla. This building has some rich history. It is the last remaining stop along the Butterfield Trail. The restaurant is very large inside due to it being divided up by rooms, one of which is called the Bunk House. There are live trees inside throughout along with different kinds of birds in cages. Of course they have a gift shop full of goodies to entice the woman folk. Wink, wink…..

The food was very good. Although I did bite into something very hot, I mean explosively hot. I thought my mouth was on fire! It did not deter me from enjoying my Chile Relleno plate though! We had a very enjoyable evening in a fantastic setting!

We met a very nice couple from El Paso who had driven over for dinner.  We had great conversation while all of us were waiting for our tables. They were telling us how much El Paso had grown over the years due to the military presence at Ft. Bliss. The traffic was pretty light on a Sunday morning, which can be very crowded during the week.

This morning we are headed to Tucson for one week. It will be the longest drive on our trip so far, so we’ll have a few more stops to stretch our legs and let Inky do his thing. We are very excited to see Christina and our grands! It has been about 3 years since we saw them last.   Becky is worried ALL four kids could be taller than her now.  Can’t wait to get and give some much needed hugs!
