We landed in Van Horn, TX yesterday after the short drive from Midland. We got to see a whole lot of desert along the way and not much else. But that is West Texas!
We had breakfast with Elaine and Marty yesterday morning and it was sumptuous! We supplied some much needed bacon for the meal which added to the delicious food that Elaine had prepared. They were going to visit their grand-daughters softball game at 9 am which was gave us a window to leave for the next leg of our trip.
It was great to spend some quality time with them during our short visit. They have only been to one bus rally which was the Bus Conversions International rally in Pahrump, NV earlier this year. If another rally is held in Pahrump, maybe we’ll get to see them there. Here they are standing proud in front of one of their 3 Eagles.
This is what greeted us on the morning of our departure from Midland. A gorgeous Texas sunrise.
Here we are preparing to leave Midland. We had to include our four-legged fury friend, Inky.
Marty took this of us as we were leaving their house. If you look close you can see me waving “Happy Trails, Until We Meet Again”.
We head to Las Cruces this morning. It’s a short drive of about 185 miles, which will let us start our day slowly until we head out. It is so relaxing to not have to get up at the crack of dawn and get ready to hit the slab. This will allow us to take a leisurely tour of Las Cruces. One of our bus nut friends on Facebook suggested that we go to La Posta de la Mesilla in old town. He said the food is fantastic, so I guess we’ll have to go check it out. Thanks Perley for the suggestion!
