This is how it looked after the final cleaning. It was a mess! I picked it up last Wednesday. Met a guy I hired through Craigslist from Eugene, OR. He had a service truck with a 6,000 crane hoist on it. He delivered it to Vancouver and set it on an engine dolly for me. It was supposed to have very low miles after a complete rebuild back in 2000. It looked like it had been driven down very dusty roads with oil leaking from the valve covers. I scrapped it for two days before soaking it with engine cleaner. I will paint it Alpine Green, which is the standard color for this engine. It will have all new fuel lines and coolant hoses. I’ll change over the fuel and oil filters once it’s painted.
The double oil cooler for the engine will be delivered today by some bus nut friends, Vic and Donna Crane. They are from Ridgefield, WA. They attended the Eagles International Bus Rally in Quartzsite, AZ last month. They picked it up from another bus nut buddy of ours from Pottsboro, TX, Sonnie Gray. What a great bunch of friends we have met since joining the Eagles International Club.
The Allison HT 740 automatic transmission will be painted silver and then mated to the engine. It came back from a Dyno test in good shape. I’m looking forward to the installation.
